Shrine and Shan Shui

About Shan Shui

Shan Shui means ‘mountains and rivers’ in Chinese, words that portray and speak for nature and all forms of life. The Shan Shui Conservation Center, known as Shan Shui for short, is an NGO based in Beijing at Peking University. Shan Shui’s principle focus is to engage local communities in conservation, devise innovative solutions to conservation problems, and raise awareness and gain support from all walks of life to help preserve China’s natural treasures. Shan Shui is a partner of Conservation International (CI), a global biodiversity conservation organization.

Shan Shui’s Mission

A harmonious society depends on a healthy environment. We envision a future in which local communities become beneficiaries of nature conservation, and everyone treats the splendor of the natural world with respect and responsibility.

Our mission is to develop effective models that will lead to bio-diversity conservation and lasting improvement of community livelihood in China. With demonstrated results, we intend to promote awareness, affect behavioral changes and make conservation relevant for all stakeholders.

Shan Shui’s Value

Conservation helps sustain our future on Earth and calls for long-term dedication and commitment. Shan Shui believes the road to pursuing this social good relies on the willing co-operation and participation of multi-stakeholders. Through partnerships with Governments, researchers, international organizations and local communities, we maximize each other’s strengths and contributions to achieving effective and lasting conservation results. We respect and understand human needs and their desire to upgrade their livelihood standards. Deploying strategies that are supported by partnerships and effective for the communities, Shan Shui manages with transparency and integrity as it recognizes and values the responsibility entrusted on us by the donors and supporters.

Shrine and Shan Shui

Shanghai Shrine Co., (Shanghai Shrine) and Shan Shui Conservation Center (Shan Shui) signed an agreement recently to promote the concept of green conferencing to enterprise clients.

With the rapid development of multimedia technology, more companies are using multimedia conferencing services to meet with business contacts across the globe, without having to leave their offices. Through partnership with Shan Shui, Shanghai Shrine will organize a series of training and webinars to raise awareness on global environmental issues. These activities will educate organizations on carbon emission calculations and ways to reduce their carbon footprint through virtual meetings.
